One month before the release of Horizon Forbidden West Burning Shores on PS5, Guerrilla Games releases some details on the big DLC of the game. The developers promise spectacular.

Guerrilla hit hard in 2022 with its Horizon Forbidden West . With its universe as splendid as it is interesting, the game has largely found its audience and the license has comfortably established itself as an essential Sony exclusive. More than a year after its release, the game will soon be entitled to an impressive DLC. And if we are to believe the developers, we can expect to be in awe of it since this time it is a 100% PS5 exclusive.

Horizon Forbidden West’s DLC promises to be great

After months of rumors, Guerrilla has officially announced the arrival of a big DLC for Horizon Forbidden West. Called Burning Shores, this expansion will take us on a tour of what was once Los Angeles where nature has taken over. In the course of a new article on PlayStation Blog , Guerrilla Games came to sell dreams by teasinga lot of crazy things about Aloy’s next adventures. We are told, for example, of a totally new and surprising region which should offer unique panoramas of their kind and a certain excess. The studio also insists on the fact that the capacities of the PS5 will be exploited to the maximum here, allowing the studio to give free rein to their greatest madness. Mathijs de Jonge, director of Horizon Forbidden West , explains:

In Horizon Forbidden West , we needed to find a way to optimize everything we added or improved for the PS4 console. In Burning Shores, since we focused on the PS5 features, we were able to take full advantage of them. We’re thrilled with what we’ve managed to create in this incredible post-apocalyptic version of Los Angeles. The ruins of Los Angeles and the city surroundings are extremely detailed and require significant processing power and very fast streaming technology, especially when the player flies over the territory and discovers much of it in one go. one time. One of the villages is located within and around these detailed ruins. We were able to make it bustle with activity.

A dantesque fight is approaching

Freed from the constraints of the PS4, the studio is obviously seeing things very big for Horizon Forbidden West Burning Shores . The director goes there with his little teaser and promises a spectacular fight, no doubt against this giant spider which destroys the Hollywood sign in the Burning Shores trailer. The confrontation would be so daunting that it would be particularly greedy in terms of memory and processing power if we are to believe the words of the employee. “ To realize this vision, both from a technical and creative point of view, we were delighted to be able to take advantage of the many advantages of the PS5 hardware ,” he adds.

For the record, Horizon Forbidden West Burning Shores will be available on April 19 exclusively on PS5. For now, few details are known about this extension which obviously does not lack ambition. We just know that it will take place right after the events of the main game and that Aloy’s journey will take her to a dangerous new region located south of the Tenakth Clan Lands. New characters and enemies will be there, but we will have to wait a little longer before discovering them.
